Pablo’s life

The Miami Marlins started swimming with the big fish in baseball. Bottom Feeders started season 12-9 thanks – in large part – to starting play. None were more impressive than right-handed Pablo Lopez. He will be looking to continue dealing when he takes the hill tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lopez only allowed one run on 13 runs as he scored 23 compared to just four walks during his first four starts of the season. This resulted in an expected ERA of 2.26 and he threw 18 consecutive 1-3 innings without goals. He will get a great chance to keep his streak against linebacker D.

The only team in the National League to have scored fewer innings than Arizona is the Cincinnati Reds. This is not good. The D-Backs have the MLB’s worst predicted batting average and hit only 188 when they’re right-handed as a team this season, and that’s the worst mark in the major leagues. The .624 OPS is ranked 24th.

Lopez also loves to promote in Depot Park. He has a career of 2.79 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 36 career starts on home soil. He bet Lopez to keep dealing in this match and go under 4.5 times allowed, a number he has stayed under in all four of his starts this season.

pick or pick: Pablo Lopez allowed under 4.5 (-108)

Korea turning corner

Carlos Correa is starting to get comfortable in his new digs and is getting hotter with the Minnesota Twins. The All-Star Shortstop Team will be looking to stay hot when he and the twins open a series in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Korea’s first season in Minnesota got off to a slow start, hitting just .167 with a .506 OPS and one home run during his first 16 games. But Shortstop has been super-heated over his last four games, collecting 10 hits in 18 players at bat (.556).

On Monday night, Correa will face young left-wing Alexander Wells. The 25-year-old will only make the ninth start of his career. Wales has made only two long matches this season, both against the Yankees. One was solid, and he didn’t give up a three-by-three hit in two rounds. The other saw him give up two solos at home in 1 2-3 runs.

As a novice, he has a 7.05 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .296. He also averages 4 2-3 runs per start. And while the Bullpen Orioles have been solid, albeit unremarkable, they’ve already scored a 96 round 2-3 this season, their sixth most in MLB.

With Correa also hitting a strong 0.296 when facing the left this season, he bet on him to continue swinging with a hot stick and beat his overall bases with the extra money.

Brig your pardon

The Seattle Mariners are off to a strong start this season as they hope to end a long post-season drought.

But it was tough for rookie Marco Gonzalez early on, especially after he had to leave his last start after just 1-3 innings when he was injured by an attacker on his forearm. But he’ll be back on the bump tonight when M opens the series against MLS Western rival the Houston Astros.

Gonzales 3.68 has a respectable ERA heading into the start of the night, but the advanced numbers paint a different picture. On top of getting a 1.50 WHIP, the left has a predicted time span of 4.68 and opponents have a predicted average hit of 0.276 with .575 Expected percentage of slow.

Simply put, he’s not losing a ton of barrels at the moment even if opponents can’t harvest a ton yet.

Ironically, his best start to the season came against the Astros, where he made seven innings of four strokes, and one ball, while scoring six. Gonzales helps that Houston jog the most.

But one of the right astros who got him into trouble during his career was Alex Bregman.

Houston’s third baseman is 9 for 29 (.310) with four extra base hits and only two hits. Bergman is a bit stagnant at the moment, but it has shown signs of unraveling.

Bregman beat Danger against the Blue Jays on Friday night and made a strong call several more times throughout the series. And while he doesn’t get the results he wants, he’s still patient on the plate because he’s among the league leaders in chase rate.

We’re betting this match with Gonzalez will put Bergman back on the right track. He took control of his overall bases.

pick or pick: Alex Bergman over 1.5 total bases (+105)
